It is still early on the 2018-19 EHL season but the NH Avalanche seem to have started right where they left off last season.  After a 2-2 start the Avs have won 8 straight games improving to 10-2 in the tight New England conference.  The Avs sent 19 players to NCAA Div III college hockey last season and only returned 4 players from last seasons team.  Forwards Matt Kassab, Conor Leach, Wiggle Kerbrat and d-man AJ Przystawski were the only returning players from the 2017-18 Championship Avs team.  They have come in and helped the new players absorb what it took to be part of the Avalanche organization.  So far it has been working but it is a long season as the EHL season is a grind both on and off the ice.  "We are happy where we are but I am not satisfied.  We can not read our press clippings and stats that is what can crack a locker room.  We have to define what consistent means to us as a team and than work towards that every day.  It is a long season and there are a lot of good teams in the EHL we have to stay on top of our game and improve our daily habits and we will find success.  What that success means at the end is the question," said Chris Cerrella.  So far this season the Avs have been receiving an offensive spark from Jake Adkins (19pts in 12 games), Wiggle Kerbrat (18pts in 11 games), Matt Kassab (15pts in 11 games) and have gotten a lot of spark from guys like Tim Cronin, Devin Pepe and Cole Archambeault.  But what has really been a pleasant surprise for the Avs is the solid 200 foot play of forwards like Conor Leach, Cam Weitzman, Nick Ritmo and Chris Aarons.  Those forwards have really made the offense work because of their relentless play away from the puck, the combo of scoring and compete level has given the Avs an average of over 5 goals a game.  "It is something we talk about it every day, you have to battle away from the puck and the team that does that the best is the team standing in the end," said Owner Mario Martiniello.  On the back end the team has been very solid.  The Avs average only 28 shots against per game and have only allowed an average of 2.25 goals a game.  They have received some great offesive play from Dmen Niks Krollis (9pts in 9 games), Kyler Harding (13pts in 12 games) and Jack Feinstein (10pts in 9 games).  But again their has been those players that have done what it takes without the puck to provide the solid d-core a team needs to be successful.  Jake Pasquini, Jake Mendeszoon, Colin Tracy and Mike Panfen have been very stingy on the defensive side and made it tough on opponents to get to good scoring areas.  In the net Nathan Pickett has taken control as of late with very strong play.  After battling through an injury early on the Auburn Ma netminder has gone 4-0 with a very respectful 1.22gaa and an impressive .959sv%.  Goalies Kyle Konin and Andrew LoRusso have also been solid giving the team a good goalie situation which is very important during the season.  Early in the season things are rolling for the NH Avs but it is a long season and they will have to continue to improve to return to the EHL Final Four.
