NH AVALANCHE ANNOUNCES NEW JUNIOR TIER III HOCKEY TEAM

Hooksett, NH , February 17, — The NH Avalanche Hockey Program is proud to announce that they have been officially granted a Junior Tier III hockey team in the top division of the Eastern Hockey League for the 2017-18 season.  The Eastern Hockey League hosts teams from Burlington, VT  to Philadelphia, PA and has been recognized as the best path to college hockey and beyond on the East Coast.  The Avalanche, who already have the top Tier 1 youth hockey program in the State of New Hampshire — including 16U and 18U full-season and split-season teams, will now have a direct path to NCAA college hockey with the addition of their 2017-18 EHL Junior hockey team.  Already on staff is President Mario Martinello who has previous coaching and ownership experience within the EHL and has a tradition of college hockey placement.  “We are very excited to partner up with USA Hockey and the Eastern Hockey League. We all share the same vision of developing and placing aspiring student athletes in the NCAA.” said Martinello. He also owns the Avalanche’s home — the Ice Den Arena — located in Hooksett, NH. The Ice Den is a beautiful, clean one-sheet facility with custom locker rooms and a synthetic sheet used for goaltending training. It is also the home of the University of Southern New Hampshire’s Division 2, Northeast-10 college hockey team.

Also on staff for the Avalanche are Casey Kesselring and Justin Soryal — both of whom have done a tremendous job building the Avalanche Youth and Midget programs.  Kesselring, a former Division 1 Merrimack College hockey standout, 5-year minor pro player and current Head Coach at New Hampton Prep School, will also be a part of the recruiting and skills development for the Junior Avalanche. Kesselring will give the Junior Avalanche a great development path as they begin their road to NCAA college hockey.  Soryal, a former OHL (Peterborough Petes) and AHL (Hartford Wolfpack & Charlotte Checkers) player, will continue his role with the Midget program and also be involved with the Avalanche’s Junior Hockey program. Justin will bring a wealth of recruiting, coaching and playing experience to the Junior Avalanche locker room.

President Mario Martinello is also excited as their will be an announcement coming soon of a Head Coach  with college and pro playing experience as well as a tremendous record of placing players in the college hockey ranks.  “We feel we have a great staff lined up to give our players at the Junior level the resources needed to achieve their goal of playing college hockey.  With a great facility and coaching staff, we are very excited to start the NH Avalanche’s road to College Hockey.” said President Mario Martinello.
