The Avs 01E team skated to a hard-fought 7-3 victory over the Aurora (Ont.) Tigers in the gold medal game in the 1980 rink at Lake Placid yesterday. After going behind early they came back to win against a tough Canadian team that kept in the game until late in the third.
The boys played excellent hockey all weekend, undefeated in five games, and only allowing four goals over the entire tournament.
Conner Murray won the shoot-out competition with a dominant performance in front of hundreds of fans in the 1932 rink.
