EHL Veteran Goaltender Set to Join Falcons this Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- The New Hampshire Avalanche are pleased to announce that Shane Peremba has committed to Albertus Magnus College (AMC) for the fall of 2023. The '02 native of South Park, PA recently finished his third and final season with the Avalanche, spending the 2020-21 season developing at the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) level, followed by the past two years in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL).

"Shane was a great story for us this past year," said EHL head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He climbed the ladder through our EHLP team to be the starter for our EHL team, and now he going off to play college hockey. Albertus was a top choice for him this year and he has nailed it. He was a big part of our success this season and I am excited to watch him in the future. We will miss him next year, but I am also very excited for him. I wish him and his family nothing but the best in the future."

After posting a a near-perfect 10-0-1 record during his single season in the EHLP (2020-21), Peremba put together a 4-3-0 record at the EHL level the following year (2021-22). Then, returning for this past year as his age out campaign (2022-23), Peremba knew he would be the starting goaltender and he delivered by winning 27 total games combined between the regular season and postseason en route to helping lead the Avalanche all the way to the EHL Championship Game.

Peremba now sets off for AMC with a teammate of his that also followed a similar path, as Kyle Dann started off in the EHLP, moved up to the EHL, and now to has advanced onto NCAA hockey.

“I am honored to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at Albertus Magnus College," said Peremba. "I would like to thank my family for the endless support and motivation they have given me throughout my hockey journey. Most importantly, I am very thankful for Coach Cerrella and the entire Avalanche organization for getting me to this point in my hockey career. Lastly, I would like to thank Coach [Kyle] Wallack for this incredible opportunity! I am very excited to spend the next four years as a Falcon!”

When Peremba arrives on campus this fall, the AMC Falcons will be heading into their fifth season at the NCAA Division III level, and first as a member of the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC).
