EHL All-Star Forward Set to Join Golden Bears this Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- The New Hampshire Avalanche are pleased to announce that Chris Hibson has committed to Western New England University for the fall of 2023. The '02 native of New Haven, CT chose the Avalanche for his first and only season of junior hockey, and over the course of 44 total Eastern Hockey League (EHL) games to date, Hibson has tallied 26 total points to his credit.

"Hibson was another great addition out of prep school," said EHL head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "We have had so much success with prep school players coming to our program and advancing on to play college hockey. Hibson is just another great example. I think he is going to do a fantastic job on the ice and in the classroom for WNE. He is a competitor and a great young man. I am so proud of him and excited to see what is next for him. I wish him and his family nothing but the best of luck in the future."

Hibson quickly turned heads upon his arrival, as he was named an EHL All-Star back in October, hitting the ice for the league's exhibition games against Nazareth College and SUNY Brockport. That experience combined with the development that Hibson has gained this season ultimately led to this moment in his career.

"I am very excited and honored to be joining Western New England this fall," said Hibson. "I chose WNE because of the location, the campus, and the opportunities I will receive in the future from the academic curriculum. Coach [Mike] Young is building something great at WNE and I can’t wait to be apart of it. I would like to thank my family and friends for all of the support along the way. As well as my coaches at Loomis and Coach Cerrella. I couldn’t have accomplished this without them."

Hibson and the Avalanche will begin postseason play when they play host to the Vermont Lumberjacks. While this is Hibson first year with the team, he would surely love to help extend the streak that had been established before him, and lead the Avalanche to their 5th straight appearance in the EHL Frozen Finals.
