3 Youth Teams Win Championships

HOOKSETT, NH -- The 2021-22 youth hockey season has officially come to a close, with 3 Avalanche programs capping off the campaign by claiming a league championship.

U14 Elite

The U14 Elite wrapped up their great season with a very busy weekend competing in both the New England Regionals & E9 playoffs.

NE Regionals started Friday night with a 7-3 loss to a tough Providence Hockey Club team. Goals for Casey Fuller, Aidan Gile & Tedy Hannon on the PP. James Brew had a big game in net despite the score as the boys gave up 58 shots in this one. The boys didn't get down and bounced back Saturday morning with a huge 7-2 Victory over the Vermont Flames. Aidan Gile had a Hat Trick, Parker O'Toole had a pair, Preston Libby and Casey Fuller also scored. Wyatt Demers with the W in net.

The boys sprinted from St. A's to the Ice Den after this one for an E9 semi-final match-up with the RI Saints. The boys looked a little tired but still prevailed with a solid 4-1 victory. James Brew picked up the W. Aidan Gile was once again all over the scoresheet in this game. Kaden Leahy also picked up his first goal of the season - perfect timing!

After a short rest the team was back at it again playing #4 nationally ranked Mount St. Charles. This would take a huge effort and that certainly came from all the boys, but especially goalkeeper Wyatt Demers. Wyatt made 58 saves on 62 shots in this one. This was Mount's closest game of the round robin portion of the tournament and the boys had a lot to be proud of as defensively they kept plays to the outside, boxed out in front of their net allowing Demers to make the saves and clean up any rebounds.

No rest for the weary - with the solid effort vs. Mount Saturday night, the Avs knocked NH rival Seacoast Performance Academy out of the semi-final's and booked themselves another go with Mount Sunday morning. Exhaustion seemed to creep into this one and the boys were under a barrage in the first period getting outshot 20-3. James Brew competed well in net but was under constant fire. In the end the boys were able to get on the board - 1 of only 2 goals Mount had given up to that point in the weekend, and once again it was Aidan Gile picking up the goal. In the end the boys dropped this one 9-1.

Once again the boys then had to run straight to the Ice Den for the E9 Championship game vs AV Patriots. With tired legs and determined minds the boys got to work and quickly jumped out to a 2 goal lead before AVP was able to scratch back. Wyatt Demers played strong through the first half of the game stepping out with a 3-1 lead. Tedy Hannon picked up the PP goal that made it 3-1 and would be the eventual game winner. James Brew shut the door for the Avs in the 3rd as the boys started to run out of gas! In the end the team was able to hold on and control the final few minutes of play securing the E9 Championship with a 3-2 victory.

A great end to an amazing season with an awesome group of players and families!

2008 Premier

The NH Avalanche 2008 Premier team went 4 and 0 to earn the title of GSL State Champions, with wins against Henniker (2-1), Upper Valley (4-1), Hanover (4-0), and the Championship game against Upper Valley (4-1). 2012 Elite

The 2012 Elite team finished out the year as champions of the BHL American division.  After finishing the regular season in 2nd place based on points the team was playoff bound. After beating the 3rd place 95 Giants 5-4 in the semifinals the team was off to the championship. Facing the 1st place Boston Jr. Rangers in the championship was sure to be a great game with the Avalanche leading the regular season matchup 3W 2L 1T.

The Avalanche took the lead early and never looked back. In the end the score was 8-1 and the 2012 Avs are the Champs! It was a great season with an awesome group of players and coaches. We look forward to seeing our banner in the Ice Den for many years to come.

Mite Blue

Mite Blue kicked off Championship weekend with a semi-final game against the Concord Capitals. A hard fought back and forth game that ended 0-0 after three periods. After a 4 on 4 AND 3 on 3 overtime, the game went into a shootout. The capitals scored first but Charlotte Parent answered right away in the first round of the shootout. Neither team scored until Grant Henrichon buried the go-ahead shootout goal in the fifth round. Concord needed a goal in order to keep the shootout going, but Khloie Montgomery came up with a huge save to seal the win and send us to the Championship game on Sunday.  On Sunday, the AVs played the Berlin Sabres for the championship. The game was tied 1-1 going into the third period. Unfortunately half way through the third period Berlin started taking over the game and sent us home with a 4-1 loss.

Mite Gold

Saturday the team played a semi-final game against the Seahawks and had its best game of the year as a team, each player worked extremely hard.  Forechecking, back-checking, and competing together it was a real treat to see how the team had progressed over the season.  On Sunday in the finals verse the Advantage, the team battled some illness missing one of our most impactful goal scorers.  The team gave everything they had as a group and tried to overcome the adversity but fell short, but not from a lack of effort.  We came to find out that others where starting to experience illness later that evening and into Monday, which truly shows that the players gave everything they could physically on Sunday.  As a group we know we had the most talent in the league and Sunday was just not our day, but as a coaching group we are so very proud of each players progress and effort over the weekend and season.
