Avalanche Teams Roll Into December

HOOKSETT, NH -- We've reached the final month of the calendar year, with all teams continuing to roll throughout the entire New Hampshire Avalanche organization.

EHL

Since the last edition of Avs Weekly, the top team in the organization has hit the ice for three total contests, all of which were closely-contested affairs. On, November 18th and 19th, the Avalanche hit the road to take on the Seacoast Spartans and the Walpole Express. After beating the division rival Spartans by the score of 3-2, the Avalanche fell the following day, by the same exact score. Fast-forward through a short break for Thanksgiving, and the team returned to action with a shutout victory, 2-0 over the East Coast Wizards. Six games remain on the schedule, from now to the start of the Christmas/New Year Holiday Break.

EHLP

As for the EHLP Avs, the 2nd team in the program hit the ice for just a single game since the last edition of this feature was released. Back on Sunday, November 28th, the Avalanche won an eventful back-and-forth contest by the final score of 5-4 in overtime against the Walpole Express. Five different goal scorers found the back of net for the Avalanche.

Coming up in December, the EHLP Avs will hit the ice for half of the amount of games that the EHL Avs will, highlighted by a first-place showdown with the Valley Jr. Warriors on the 15th.

U14

U14's wrapped up the Fall E9 season over the weekend dropping two tough and highly-competitive games. Saturday they traveled down to Raynham for a game vs. the New England Knights. This one came down to the wire and the boys had plenty of chances to pull points out, but in the end fell just short.

Sunday they played a late night game vs. AVP in Concord, MA. After some back and forth hockey and a questionable missed goal call that would've tied things up, the boys dropped a heartbreaker 3-1.

U14’s had a single game down at Skate 3 last weekend. The boys jumped out to an early lead before losing focus surrendering two, three-goal leads before Dom White sealed it with a PP goal in the final minute for a 7-6 victory over Islanders East Elite team. Stick tap to Blake Beaulieu with 3 assists in his first game back from an injury suffered in August.

2009 Premier

The AVS 09 Premier had two big BHL games this past weekend.

First, the boys took on the NE Knights in Rayham. The Avs are battling hard this season and this game was no different. The Avs were first to score, but at the end of the second period, found themselves down by 1. The Jr. Mounties fought to score once in the third. The Avs answered back by scoring 3 goals in the 3rd, giving them a final score of 6 to 5. A win for the Avs.

Second game of the weekend was against the Seacoast Spartans at St As. Spartans scored 1 in the 1st and the Avs answered with a goal in the second period. It was a close back and forth game, but in the end, after another Spartans goal & an empty netter, the Avs took a 3-1 loss.

Onto next weekend, where '09 Avs will face the Walpole Express at home and the Jr. Rangers in Tewksbury..

2010 Elite

Saturday we played the Seahawks down in Hyannis.  Our team struggled to connect and come alive.  The game ended in a tough tie, 2-2.

We travelled to Springfield on Sunday to vs the Rifles.  After a slow start, that found us down 3-0 early, and 4-1 at the end of the 1st period, we battled back to close it to 4-3 late into the 3rd period. The Rifles scored their 5th, and added an empty netter in the last minute to win 6-3.

2011 Elite

The 2011 Elite team hosted the Advantage and the Patriots this past weekend in 2 home regular season matchups.  In the first game the Avalanche battled hard but fell short in their efforts coming away with a loss to the Advantage Selects. Griffin Erickson earned the hardest worker chain and Miles Moschetti earned the game puck.

Sunday's game had a lot of lead changes and the Avalanche never gave up putting a ton of shots on the Patriots goalie who played a great game, but ultimately came away with a loss to the Patriots. Griffin Erickson earned the hardest worker chain for the second game in a row, and Logan LaCoss earned the game puck.

This past week the 2011 Elite Team played in the Turkey Shootout Tournament in Hooksett, NH.  The team went 4-0 to come away with the Championship beating the Granite State Wild, Rhode Island Jr Blues and Bridgewater Bandits. Caroline Warrington was named the tournament MVP in the winning effort.

The NH Avalanche look to continue on their 5 game winning streak this upcoming weekend against the Advantage and Icemen
