EHL Forward Set to Join Colonels this Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- The New Hampshire Avalanche are pleased to announce that Max Cocchi has committed to Wilkes University for the fall of 2021. The 2000-born native of Ludlow, MA joined the Avalanche in late January, and in 18 total games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Cocchi tallied six goals and eight assists to his name.

"Max came to us from the NCDC, and we were recruiting him the year before at Tilton," said EHL head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He made an immediate impact on the ice and in the locker room for us. He is a speedy and skilled forward that has a good head for the game. With a great off-season, I think Cocchi will be an excellent addition to the Wilkes locker room and academic community. I am so proud of Max and can not wait to see him do great things. Max is our league-leading 18th NCAA commitment and we are very proud of that."

Cocchi joins a very talented incoming freshmen class at Wilkes that includes two more top EHL forwards in Nick Swain from the New Jersey 87's and Lorenzo Marcolin from the Walpole Express. Along with the three talented playmakers, Wilkes has also committed a pair of Cocchi's Avalanche teammates in Matt Carlson and Chris Paige for the 2022-23 season.

"Thank you to the Avalanche organization, my coaches, and my teammates, and thank you to my family for all the support, especially my parents," said Cocchi.

While the loss to the Boston Jr. Rangers will always feel disappointing for Cocchi and his teammates, they still have a lot to be proud of when looking back on the run they made to reach the 2021 EHL Championship game.
