HOOKSETT, NH -- The New Hampshire Avalanche are pleased to announce that Carson Fotheringham has committed to Rivier University for the fall of 2021. The 2000-born native of Rochester, NY is in his 2nd season with the Avalanche and in 33 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) Fotheringham has tallied 14 total points to his name. The veteran forward also spent six games developing in the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) this past year, tallying seven assists along the way.
"Carson has been with us for two seasons and has been a great addition to our program, both on and off the ice," said EHL head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He is a leader and a competitor and I think he will bring those qualities to Rivier as they begin their first season of NCAA Division III hockey. I couldn’t be happier for Carson and I wish him nothing but the best as he continues his academic and athletic careers this fall."
As Cerrella mentioned the Rivier Raiders will be kicking-off their inaugural season at the NCAA Division III level this fall. Located in Nashua, NH, Rivier will skate out of Conway Arena as their home rink. Fotheringham is excited about the prospect of laying the foundation for a new program, and thankful to the Avalanche organization for making it possible.
"I'm very excited to be a part of the new hockey program at Rivier University," said Fotheringham. "I would like to thank everyone with the New Hampshire Avalanche from Coach Cerella, to Coach Martiniello and Coach Caliguri, to all my teammates over the past 2 years. Playing for Coach Cerella and the Avalanche could not have prepared me more for college hockey. The compete level at practice and games helped me develop as a player. No one does it better than the EHL and the New Hampshire Avalanche."
Fotheringham and the Avalanche return to action tomorrow afternoon at 1:40 pm against the New England Wolves. At 18-2-1, New Hampshire sits at the top of the North Division and will look to stay hot down the stretch and into the postseason.
