The top team in the program is staying true to that point, owning a record of 3-1-0 through their first four games of the season. In the opening weekend of the season, the Avalanche beat the Rangers by the score of 4-3 in a shootout, and then the following day, picked up a 6-0 shutout victory over the Maine Eclipse.
Since then the team knocked off the Walpole Express by a mark of 5-2 on September 24th, and then ran into a hot goalie in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Valley Junior Warriors (October 1st). Overall, 15 players have tallied at least a point for the Avalanche so far, with Artem Mateichenko leading the way with seven points to his name.
Between the pipes. George McMichael has picked up two of the three victories to date, with Oliver Quinn earning the 3rd and final victory to his name.
As for the Avalanche 2nd junior team, playing out of the EHL's developmental division, the EHLP squad is off to a perfect start at 3-0-0.
Because of state-by-state restrictions and a small handful of cancellations, the EHLP played all three of their games back on the 19th, 20th, and 22nd of September. On those three days, the Avalanche beat the Eclipse by scores of 4-1 and 7-1, and knocked off the New England Wolves by a final margin of 4-3.
A total of 12 different players have tallied at least a point to their name so far this season for the Avs, with Graham Hassan leading the way with his three goals and four assists. It's worth noting that all three of Hassan's goals have stood as the game-winning tallies in each of the three respective contests. Thus, deservedly so, Hassan was named the top forward in the EHLP for the month September.
In goal, Shane Peremba, Nate Burlew, and Nick Maringola have all picked up a victory for their team.
The U16 Full Season traveled to Connecticut knowing the draw had them facing off with top Beast League teams. The guys battled on Friday but took a hard-fought 5-2 loss to the NJ Titans. Saturday's competition got us back in the win column with a 3-2 victory over the CT Chiefs. This game was a nail biter as they Avs were down 2-0 at the end of the first and rallied to come from behind with a 3-2 victory. Saturday night's rematch against the Boston Hockey Academy was a gritty 60-minute effort, and the guys earned a 1-1 tie to finish off the weekend.
The team of brothers are bonding, enjoying cellys, learning from mistakes, gaining skills, and playing for the love of the game.
There's a lot of hockey - a lot of memories - a lot of growing in store.
October, here we come!
The 18U Gold team defeated the Assabet Valley Patriots 4-3 in BHL action. The Avs jumped out to an early lead on a deflection goal by Jake Masterson. Luc Ouellette tallied in the 2nd period to increase the Avs lead to 3-1 after two periods. Assabet battled back to even the score early in the third, but a beautiful end to end rush by Sam Perry saw him beat several defenders for a highlight-reel game-winning goal.
It was a very good weekend as the boys continue to improve while reproducing the practice efforts. In games, the team remains undefeated and is getting stronger.
The group travelled to Massachusetts on Sunday with just seven forwards and three defenseman, but still won 6-2.
The 2010 Premier team played a great game on Saturday.
The game wrapped up as a loss for the Avs by the final score of 7-3. After falling behind 4-0 in the 1st period, the Avs didn’t give up and showed grit and lots of heart during the 2nd and 3rd periods drawing 3 penalties, scoring 3 goals, and holding the opponents to only 3 additional tallies. Goalie Liam Duchesne had some incredible saves during his first home game with the Avalanche. Logan Ercha scored 2 goals assisted by Chloe O’Toole and Colby Rae. Kaden Blouin scored in his first home game with the Avs, with the assist going to Brayden Gillies.
This weekend the Avs were defeated by the Boston Advantage, by a score of 8-2. Our team came out strong, fought hard throughout, and never quit. In the 3rd period, Mikey Santos scored a penalty shot goal.
The 2009 Premier team played in the GSL season opener against NH East 12U . The team came out strong with great defensive plays and an offensive goal. Both goalies had tremendous saves throughout the game. Despite a valiant effort, the team came up short by the final margin of 4-1.
The 09 Premier kept rolling with 2 BHL games this past weekend against the Boston Jr. Rangers and the Valley Jr. Warriors. Both games were close to the very end with the goalies making major saves throughout the contests. With both offensive and defensive players taking every shot they could and making plays, the team ended up with a pair of back-to-back 3-3 ties.
It was another weekend of intense competition for the 09 Elites. It was the second game in a row playing the reigning champs of 2019: the Worcester Railers. The boys shook off their first-game jitters and played a much better game the second time around. Although they were defeated, plays were made and goals were scored. Cameran Riel, Max Ryder, Nolan Walsh, and Cooper Chapman (forwards) all contributed for the Avs. The Elites' second game of the weekend was against another fierce competitor in the Boston Advantage. The boys had a hard time staying out of the box which led to their ultimate defeat. Alex May (defenseman) scored their only goal.
The 09 Elites then traveled to Springfield, MA this past weekend to go head to head with the Springfield Rifles. The Elites were down by one in the first period, but Max Ryder, forward, scored in the second period to put the Avs on the board. Although the team went into the third down by two, they were unwilling to give up. Davids Hibbard, a forward pulled up from the 09 Premier team, scored the second goal. This goal created the momentum the Elites needed! Shortly thereafter, Camden Riel set up Nolan Walsh to score the final and game-tying goal. Final score: 3-3
The Mites were lucky this weekend and had some extra power skating work with Coach Mike. They are improving each week and excited for their chance to meet an opponent.
