Future Avalanche Forward Set to Join Cardinals in Fall of 2021

HOOKSETT, NH -- The New Hampshire Avalanche are pleased to announce that Henry Carlson has committed to Wesleyan University for the fall of 2021. The '01 native of Lake Forest, IL is set to join the Avalanche team in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) this fall, following a pair of seasons playing prep hockey at The Governor's Academy.

"Henry is coming off a pair of solid prep seasons, and when he signed with us, we immediately worked with Wesleyan and their hockey coaching staff on solidifying him for the 2021 season," said EHL head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He has obviously worked very hard both on and and off the ice to accomplish this, and we are looking forward to getting him prepared for college hockey. He will join former Avalanche forwards Kyle Anderson and Wiggle Kerbrat at Wesleyan, and it’s truly a great fit; we are excited for the Carlson family."

In two seasons at Governors, Carlson tallied 33 total points to his name, and more than doubled his scoring totals from year #1 to year #2. To have this decision made before he even plays a game in the EHL, is something that Carlson is very proud of. It's a huge weight off of his shoulders, heading into what will now be his first and last season of junior hockey.

"I am extremely honored and excited to have committed to Wesleyan come the fall of 2021, to continue both my academic and athletic careers," said Carlson. "Ever since I was little it has always been a dream of mine to play college hockey and I am very proud to have reached that goal. I could not have done it without the support of my family, friends, teammates, and coaches along the way. I am forever grateful for everything they have done for me. From the moment I signed with the Avs, Coach Cerrella was immediately in my corner to help me get to this step. It is obvious that he really cares about his players and moving them to the next step in their careers. I cannot wait to officially join the Avs this fall and have a great season with Coach Cerrella and my new teammates.”

The Avalanche have a league-leading 53 NCAA Commitments over the last three seasons. With Carlson becoming #54, the foundation is set for an upcoming year filled with high hopes once again for one of the top tier 3 junior hockey programs in the country.
