EHL Veteran Goaltender Set to Join Hawks this Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- The New Hampshire Avalanche are pleased to announce that Andrew LoRusso has committed to Becker College for the fall of 2020. The '99 native of Peabody, MA spent three seasons in the Avalanche program, starting off with the U18 team during the 2017-18 campaign, followed by a pair of years with the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) team.

"I am very happy for Andrew and his family," said EHL head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He is going to be a great addition to not only the Becker College hockey program, but also the Becker community. He is a true competitor both on and off the ice, and a great young man. I am excited to keep my eye on Russo as he continues into the next chapter at the college hockey level. Good luck to the LoRusso family!"

LoRusso adds his name to an incoming freshmen class at Becker, that already includes five other EHL players from across the league. Overall, LoRusso is the 25th player in league history to choose the Becker hockey program. The veteran goaltender is excited for the future, and also very grateful for everything he gained from his time with the Avalanche program.

"I am beyond grateful to have been a part of such a top-notch organization like the Avalanche, and I am now excited to call myself a Hawk for the next 4 years," said LoRusso. "I first off would like to thank Coach Cerrella, as he helped me realize that family comes first, on top of making me a better athlete both on and off the ice. Throughout the years I've created so many memories with my teammates that I'll cherish forever, and I couldn't thank them all enough. Lastly, I would like to thank my brother, sister, and especially my parents for pushing and supporting me through it all. I'm happy to be a part of the Becker community and I'd like to thank Coach Young for the opportunity."

While the season was cut short of the Avalanche defending their back-to-back EHL Championships, it still was a very special year for the third-year program. LoRusso is the 18th NCAA Commitment and counting for no doubt one of the top Tier III Junior Hockey programs in the country.
