HOOKSETT, NH -- The New Hampshire Avalanche U14s continued their strong play winning both games over the weekend, to run their overall season record up to 21-6-4 for the year.
The U14 Avs traveled to Smithfield, RI on Saturday for a game against the RI Saints and left the rink with a hard-fought 3-2 win. The Avs went down 1-0 midway through the 1st period, but battled back to tie the game early in the 2nd period on a goal by Dylan Garvin, assists to Aidan Palmeter and Quinn Silvio. Garvin then gave the Avs a 2-1 lead with just over a minute to play in the 2nd period ,on a beautiful backhand tip that went bar down, assists to Cooper Joscelyn and Dominick Jurcins. The Avs got some great goaltending from Mason Langevin early in the 3rd period to maintain their 2-1 lead, including one save that even had the hometown Saints fans cheering for him. Quinn Silvio scored with 2:30 left in the game to increase the lead to 3-1, assists to Will Danais and Brady Chapman. The Saints cut the lead to 3-2 with just over a minute to play, but the Avs played solid team defense with the Saints' goalie pulled to earn the 3-2 win.
The U14 Avs skated to a 3-0 win on Sunday at Saint Anselm College against the Valley Jr. Warriors. Brendan Heppler was outstanding in net, making a number of highlight-reel saves. The game was scoreless through the 1st period, but the Avs scored 3 goals in the 2nd period. Domminic Tagliaferro got the Avs on the board 2 minutes into the 2nd period, assists on the goal going to Brady Chapman and Tate Flint. Dylan Garvin continued his torrid scoring pace with his 7th goal in his last 5 games to make the score 2-0, assists going to Jack Shoemaker and Aidan Palmeter. Owen Miner closed out the scoring for the Avs on a pretty power-play goal, assists going to Brady Chapman and AJ True.
The Avs close out their Split-Season with 2 league games this week against the Valley Jr. Warriors and the Boston Advantage.
