Mendeszoon Leads Full Class of Avalanche All-Stars

HOOKSETT, NH -- The 2019-20 EHL All-Star Week will kick-off tomorrow afternoon at 1:00pm, as Team EHL will hit the ice for an hour and a half practice session. Following tomorrow's practice, the rest of the weekly schedule includes campus tours, recruiting seminars, and of course, three exhibition matchups against NCAA Division III opponents.

For the 2nd consecutive season, Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella will also serve as the bench boss for Team EHL. The three exhibitions matchups this year, put Team EHL up against Fitchburg State at 6:00pm on Thursday, Salem State at 5:00pm on Friday, and UMass Boston at 4:00pm on Saturday.

Also, alongside Cerrella there will once again be four Avalanche players on the All-Star roster, as Kyle Anderson, Victor Nikiforov, Jake Mendeszoon, and Jacob Iida were among the group of players selected to the team.

Kyle Anderson

Anderson has nine goals and seven assists (16 points), through 11 games this season, and is currently on a six-game point streak going into the All-Star Break. The '99 has collected three game-winning goals, as well as a hat-trick in the team's first matchup of the year against the Railers Jr. Hockey Club. The native of Ithaca, NY has also been a force on the power-play, with five of his 16 points coming with his team on the man advantage.

Viktor Nikiforov

Nikiforov leads the Avalanche with 18 points (eight goals, ten assists) in 13 games so far this season. The native of Hauppauge, NY, has five multi-point games to date, and has also racked up five points on the power-play as well. The '99, who won an EHL championship last season with the Avalanche, will continue to play a big role on offense throughout the rest of the year.

Jake Mendeszoon

Mendeszoon leads all defensemen on the Avalanche in points through 13 games, with three goals and 13 assists (16 points). The native of Methuen, MA has been an anchor on the power-play, racking up a team leading seven points on the man advantage. The '99 was also a big part of last year’s EHL Championship team, and will be a key leader on this year's group, as they look to make it three titles in a row.

Jacob Iida

Last, but not least, Iida has three goals and six assists  so far this season. The 2000-born native of Yorba Linda, CA has played in 12 games for New Hampshire, and has already earned tons of respect from numerous coaches around the league. A few coaches in particular have circled Iida as the best defensive-defenseman in the EHL.
