U16 Gold Sweeps Set of Weekend Games

HOOKSETT, NH -- Another week in the books for the New Hampshire Avalanche, as this past weekend was filled with victories throughout the organization.

Junior Teams

After starting the season 3-0-0, the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) suffered its first defeat this past Sunday against the New Jersey 87s. However, after losing a tight 2-1 contest, the Avalanche bounced back with victories over the Connecticut RoughRiders and Railers Junior Hockey Club.

As for the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) team, the Avalanche hit the ice for just a single game this past week, but in that matchup they earned themselves another victory over the New England Wolves. In just their first season in the EHLP, the Avs are a perfect 4-0-0.

Both teams are in action at the Ice Den this weekend, with back-to-back matchups against the Vermont Lumberjacks. On Saturday, the EHL teams will face-off at 4:20pm followed by the EHLP teams at 7:30pm.

The teams will then flip-flop on Sunday, with the EHLP teams hitting the ice at 1:30pm, followed by the EHL teams at 4:40pm.

U18 and U16 Full Season

The full season teams had an up and down weekend with their games this past weekend. The U18 team defeated the Northern Cyclones Prep team, but fell to the Boston Knights. On the other hand, the U16 team came out and tied the Springfield Pics in a game they carried the play throughout, but then fell to a very strong New England Fall Prep team.

U16 Gold

The U16 Gold team went 2-0-0 this past weekend. Saturday saw the team defeat the Manchester Flames 4-2 in a GSL match up, with both Colby Wright and Josh Salzman scoring very timely goals.

Sunday’s contest featured a 2-0 win over the Valley Junior Warriors in a BHL matchup. The goal scorers were Luc Ouelette and Jake Masterson, all while Ethan Swanson earned a shutout between the pipes. With the pair of wins, the winning streak increases up to five games for the U16 Gold team.

U14 Elite

The U14 Elites went 1-0-1 this past weekend.

On Saturday, the Avs tied the Valley Jr. Warrior 4-4 at the Haverhill Valley Forum. The goal scorers were Owen Miner, AJ True, Will Danais, and Quinn Silvio. Assists in the contest went to Brady Chapman (2), Cooper Joscelyn, Tate Flint, and Aidan Palmeter.

On Sunday, the Avs skated to a convincing 4-1 victory over the Boston Advantage. The forward line of Will Danais, Aidan Palmeter, and Dylan Garvin got the Avs going as they scored two quick goals. Quinn Silvio and Dominik Jurcins closed out the scoring for the Avs, with assists going to Zach Famiglietti, Tucker Townsend, Jack Shoemaker, Tate Flint, AJ True, and Brady Chapman. Mason Langevin was rock solid in net for the Avs.

The U14s have a busy weekend coming up with a league game Saturday in Raynham against the New England Knights, and then they'll travel to Proctor Academy on Sunday to play two non-league games against the New England Wolves and Durocher St. Lambert out of Canada.

2007 Elite

The 2007 Elite team had a rough start to their road trip, as they hit the ice on Saturday against the RI Saint M's. The Avalanche battled late and finished strong, and that momentum carried into a much better effort on Sunday against the Boston Advantage. In that matchup, Parker O’Toole scored a pair of goals in the 2-2 tie. The 2007 Elite team is looking forward to its home opener coming up this weekend.

2009 Elite

It was a busy weekend for the 2009 Elite team with both the BHL and GSL regular seasons getting underway. Although suffering two tough losses to open the BHL season to the RI Saints, the team earned a hard-fought come from behind victory in their GSL opener, beating Rochester 3-2 behind a hat track from Cade Tripp.
