Avalanche Add More Experience to EHL and EHLP Teams

HOOKSETT, NH -- The New Hampshire Avalanche are pleased to announce that Kevin Brooks has been added to the program's staff as a scout for the EHL and EHLP junior teams.

"I am excited to be working with Kevin Brooks once again," said EHL head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He has a very good hockey mind and an ability to find talent. We have worked together before and he knows what kind of players fit my coaching style. I'm very happy, and very pleased to be bringing Brooksy on board."

Brooks has a strong resume that includes both playing and coaching experience. Coach Brooks played in the United States Hockey League (USHL) from 2001 to 2003 with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. In his final season, he served as the team captain before advancing on to begin his collegiate hockey career at Providence College.

Brooks' time in the Hockey East didn't last that longer however, as he found a better fit for himself at Curry College, a school that has always recruited the EHL very strongly.

Brooks then began his coaching career with the Walpole Express in the former Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AJHL), which became the EHL back in 2013.

After a pair of seasons in Walpole, Brooks worked his way back to his USHL alma mater, and served as an Assistant Coach for the RoughRiders from 2008 to 2014.

After a brief hiatus to focus on spending more time with his family, Brooks returned to coaching with the University of Iowa (ACHA) in 2018, where he has continued to develop, mentor, and grow the program into a top club hockey contender.

Brooks is excited to join the Avalanche as a Midwest Scout, and continue to bring top prospects to the organization.

Both teams will kick-off the 2019-20 season on Saturday against the New England Wolves, with the EHL game scheduled for 4:20pm and the EHLP game set to follow at 7:30pm.
