U16 Forward Raising Money for Concussion and Brain Trauma Treatment

HOOKSETT, NH -- For the past five years, Griffin Bouchard hosted a holiday skate in order to raise money for the Boston Children's Hospital's Concussion Prevention/Brain Trauma Center. This year's event will be a 3 on 3 tournament on November 11th at the Essex Sports Center in Middleton, MA. In total, Bouchard has raised over $30,000 over the past five years, and he hopes that number will continue to grow through another successful event this season.

"Over the past 5 years, I have been lucky enough to work with and have the support of the NHL Alumni Association, the Boston Bruins Foundation, and the Corey C. Griffin Pro Am," said Bouchard. "Without their support, I would not have been able to raise over $30,000 for the Boston Children's Hospital's Concussion Research/Brain Trauma Center. It has been a humbling experience, knowing that I am helping patients and furthering concussion research."

As Bouchard mentioned, the experience has been very humbling for him, but it's also been very impressive what the young man has accomplished. To have raised this much money as he works his way through his early teen years is simply unbelievable. Along with his play on the ice, it's this off-ice dedication that helps the native of South Hamilton, MA stand out even more.

"We are really looking forward to Griffin's first year with our program," said Justin Soryal, the Midget Director for the Avalanche. "Of course we are excited about the skill set that he will bring to the ice, but we were also blown away when we learned of his charitable efforts. To be this dedicated is truly admirable, and something that everyone should praise and strive to emulate."

This year's event is on Veteran's Day, and it will have a Boston Bruins feel to it once again. Of the many NHL alumni on hand, Rick Middleton will be in attendance once again, along with Blades the Bear and Todd Angilly singing the national anthem.

Each year the event grows larger, and the credit all goes to Bouchard. From raffles prizes, to food trucks, and TSR Hockey sponsoring this year's event, be sure to mark your calendar for the holiday in early November.
