The New Hampshire Avalanche defender Alex Gagne  announced his commitment to the University of New Hampshire this Tuesday. Gagne is the first New Hampshire Avalanche player to commit this season and fourth player in the East Coast Elite League to commit to UNH.

“I’m excited to announce my commitment to play college hockey at University of New Hampshire.  Huge thank you to my family, friends, teammates and coaches at the New Hampshire Avalanche and Justin Soryal for his support to get me where I am.  I can’t wait to be a Wildcat!” Said Alex Gagne

Gagne has been a strong member of the New Hampshire Avalanche program and made a significant impact in the East Coast Elite League appearing in the 2019 All-Star Game at Northeastern along with leading the 16U Avalanche in the regular season with 15 points (4G, 11a) in 16 games.  He also had 49 points (7 Goals, 42 assists) throughout the season. Gagne was also selected in the 2019 USHL draft by the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.

“We are extremely excited for Alex to have been recognized for his exceptional play this season and in doing so be rewarded with a Division 1 Athletic Scholarship to the University of New Hampshire. Alex is a rare story of a kid showing up in a program at “Learn to Skate” and staying with that same organization all the way through his youth hockey career. He will be leaving the Avalanche program with a college commitment as well as a USHL draft pick.  The recognition being received by Alex could not happen to a more hard working and dedicated individual.  He is the model of a great teammate and focused hockey player. The entire Avalanche program is extremely proud of Alex and look forward to what is in store for him next.”  Said New Hampshire Avalanche Full Season Midget Director and Head coach Justin Soryal
