The 18U full season team had a very busy weekend with games Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  The 18 Avs traveled to Everett MA to take on the Boston Shamrocks in what proved to be a very physical matchup.  The Avs beat the Shamrocks 3-0 in a penalty filled affair.  Andrew LoRusso was solid once again between the pipes and earned another shutout.  Matt Gagnon (1) and Tim Cronin (2) provided the goals while Cody Lappas, Aaron Harmon and Nick Snyder all got assists.

The second game of the weekend took place at the Ice Den and was also against the Shamrocks.  The 18 Avs prevailed once again 6-4 and sweeping the weekend series.  Matt Bouldin provided a steady presence in net and goals by Tim Cronin (2), Ben Brown, Andrew Woloszyn, Mason Drouin and Kegan Vincent powered the team to victory.

The third game of the weekend was at Ice Den vs East Coast Spartans.  This ended up being a 2.5 hour marathon game as the teams tied 6-6 at the end of regulation.  The Avs were powered by goals from Pat Maloney, Alex Gagne, Ryan Tobeler (2), Matt Gagnon, and Michael Zogin.  The 18 Avs entered the 5 min 3-on-3 OT session facing a 4v3 short handed situation for two minutes.  The team successfully killed off the penalty and put some good pressure on the Spartans and almost won it with under a minute to play.  OT ended still knotted at 6 so the teams proceeded to a shootout.  Unfortunately, the Spartans won the shootout 2-1.

The team is 5-2 over the last 7 games and continues to improve as they approach the upcoming ECEL and NPHL playoffs.  Next up, the 18 Avs face a very high powered Elite Academy team Sunday11:45am at St A’s.
