EHL Avalanche Reaching Out to the Community
The NH Jr Avalanche is a brand new Junior hockey team that plays in the Eastern Hockey League. The team consists of players from all over the world who are all after the same thing, to play college hockey in the future. The team will begin play September 16th, 2017 at the Ice Den Arena in Hooksett, NH. Head Coach Chris Cerrella who is in his 12th season as a Junior Hockey Head Coach has taken the reigns for the Avs and immediately is leaving a mark in the area. The team has not even played a regular season game in 2017 and they are already reaching out to the local New Hampshire communities. On August 31st at McGregor Park in Derry, NH the Jr Avs attended the International Drug Over Dose Awareness Day to show support to the families who have lost loved ones to the battle against drugs. It was the first of many events that the Avs players will attend this year its some thing that the Avs Coach and ownership believe is important on molding these inspiring student athletes into great young men. "Reaching out to the communities is very important not only for us an an organization but for our players as individuals. Attending Over Dose Awareness Day really hit home with our players as they saw the effects that drugs have on not only the lives of the user but the lives of the families. It was a great event that was started and coordinated by a group of six moms who all lost a child to drugs over the recent years. We would like to thank those mothers for allowing us to be a part of this and we would also like to thank Josh Bourdon who is a town councilman for the City of Derry, NH as well. It was very touching to see these families reaching out and it was a great way for the Jr Avs program to help New Hampshire and the cause, " said Chris Cerrella. The Jr Avs will being the season September 16th at the Ice Den Arena in Hooksett, NH at 8pm versus the New England Wolves based out of Laconia, NH.
