Avalanche Coaches

March 10th, 2008 -  The Avalanche have announced the Midget, U12 and U14 Teams.  Read below for more info.

Midget Major            Dino Livolsi

Coach Livolsi has been involved with the game for many years; this will be his fourth as a coach with the Avalanche. This past season coach Livolsi lead the Midget Minor team to the tier 1 state tournament. Coach Lavolsi is also part of the Goffstown High coaching staff.

 

Midget Major            Pete Duford

Coach Duford is back for his third season as a head coach at the Midget Level for the Avalanche. Last season coach Duford lead the midget minor tier 2 Avalanche team to the state tournament.

 

Midget Minor          Tom Rogers

Joe Lee, Casey Kesselring & Dave Russo Assistant Coaches

Tom Rogers is one of the founding fathers of Avalanche hockey and has coached for many years. Current Avalanche President and Pinkerton Academy Coach Casey Kesselring as well as Pinkerton Academy assistant coach Joe Lee will assist him.

 

Midget Minor            Dave Saball

Coach Saball returns to the Avalanche to take one of the midget minor teams. He has coached many Avalanche teams in the past ten years and is the only level 5 Master Coach in the program. We are excited to welcome him back!

* A player can tryout for both the major and minor level but must pay the tryout fee for each.


 

U14                 Tom Rogers

Coach Rogers is one of the founding fathers of Avalanche hockey and has many years experience coaching youth athletics. Coach Tom was also instrumental in starting the girls program with the Avalanche last season as he coached the U12 team.

U12                 Bob Tuite

Coach Bob was an assistant coach last season on the 95AAA team and is excited about the opportunity to work with the girls as the head coach. Bob played high school hockey at Brockton MA, before moving on to New Hampton Prep and finally at Elmira College.  Bob has 10 years of minor hockey coaching experience, 4 years with Brockton Midgets and 6 years in NH.


 

Bantam Major 94AAA         Rich Verrier         

Coach Verrier is back for his 4th  season with the Avalanche and 3rd  as a head coach. Last year Rich coached the 93AA team. Rich played high school as well as division 3 college hockey as a player and looks forward to a new challenge with the Bantam 94AAA team.

 

Bantam Major 94AA            Chris Burgess           

Coach Burgess is back for his 2nd year as a head coach after many years as an assistant. Last season he coached the 95AA team and is looking forward to moving up to the bantams! He has also been a  head coach with MYRA as well as Tewksbury and Medford youth programs. Chris played his high school hockey for Medford High.

 

Bantam Minor 95AAA         Bruce Harvey          

Coach Harvey has been the coaching coordinator for the Avalanche since it’s inception and is also the power skating instructor for the Avalanche. Coach Harvey is the former Bishop Brady Head Coach and is the only Avalanche coach to take a team to the national tournament.

 

Peewee Major 96AAA          George Bliss              

Coach Bliss is back for his third season with the Avalanche and second as a head coach. George grew up in Northern Ontario where he learned the game the “Canadian way”. He went on to play in the highest level of junior hockey in Canada, the OHL, for the Sudbury Wolves. He later moved to North Carolina where he worked for both the Raleigh Icecaps and Carolina Hurricanes helping develop the youth hockey programs in that area. This past season George led the 96AAA team to a second place finish in the MBHL.

 

Peewee Major 96AA             Guy Bilodeau            

Coach Guy is back for his 3rd year as a head coach with the Avalanche. Coach Guy is one of the most respected coaches in the program bringing a lifetime of experience. In 06/07 coach Guy led the team to the NE Regional at the tier 2 level.

 

Peewee Minor 97AAA          Darren Catalano      

Coach Catalano returns for his 4th season as an Avalanche head coach. Darren coached the 94AAA team this past season and under his guidance showed tremendous improvements. Darren played his college hockey at SNHU where he was a 4-year varsity player.

 

Peewee Minor 97AA             Bob Beaudet                

Coach Beaudet is back for his 3rd  season with the Avalanche and 2nd  as a Head Coach. Last season Coach Bob led the team to a second place finish in tier 2 and a birth in the NE Regional! Bob played 4 years of varsity high school hockey for Trinity and 11 years of coaching experience including 2 years at the High School level.

 

Squirt Major 98AAA            Mike Potvin HC        Mark Leach Coaching Consultant

Coach Potvin is entering his 4th season with the Avalanche and 3rd as head coach, last season he led the 98 team to an undefeated MBHL regular season and a semi final appearance in the Squirt Tier 1 State tournament. Mike is a former division 3-college player and is looking forward to his 3rd season in charge behind the bench.

Coach Leach enters his 2nd  season as an official coach with the Avalanche and we are very excited to have him on board. Mark is a former division 1 player at St Lawrence and is currently one of the head amateur scouts for the Detroit Red Wings! The name Leach is well known all around New England and we are happy he is part of the Avalanche staff.

 

Squirt Major 98AA               Eric Lindberg & Rick Beaudette Co Coaches

Coach Lindberg and Beaudette are back for a second year with the 98AA team. Coach Lindberg is the “hockey guy”, he is a former captain at St Anslem College as well as a minor pro player. Coach Rick handles most of the administrative duties and also helps on the ice and behind the bench!

 

Squirt 99AAA                       Joakim Wahlstrom   

Coach Wahlstrom joins the Avalanche after two years with the Pro Ambitions program where last year he coached the Mite 1 team. Coach J played his college hockey at the university of Maine and looks forward to bringing a lifetime of experience to the Avalanche program!

 

Squirt 99AA                          Bob Shields               

Coach Shields is back for his second year with the 99AA team after years of helping coach the 94AAA team. This past season the 99AA team finished 3rd in Mite tier 3 and then lost in the semi finals of the state tournament.

 

Mite 2000AAA                      Casey Kesselring HC            Scott Greer Co Coach

Coach Kesselring will be behind the bench for 2000AAA team next season after two seasons with the 99AAA team. Last season the team enjoyed tremendous success as they won the GSL mite tier 1 state championship and finished 2nd  in the MBHL regular season. Casey is a former Hockey East all-star at Merrimack College (98) and currently serves as Head Coach at Pinkerton Academy.

Coach Greer returns for his third season as a head coach with the Avalanche after leading the 2000AAA's to an MBHL title in 2008 and a GSL Tier III title in 2007.  Coach Greer is a former Division III goaltender whose organizational skills and knowledge of the game provide a great learning environment for the players.

 

 

Mite 2000AA                         Troy Spencer            

Coach Spencer is entering his first year as a head coach with the Avalanche after helping with the Little Avalanche last year. Troy played high school hockey locally at West before moving on to St Paul’s prep. After St Paul’s Coach Spencer went to the Air Force Academy before ending up at St A’s. He excited about working with the 2000AA team.

 

Mite 2001AAA                      Jeff Gagne                

Coach Gagne is a head coach for the first time with the Avalanche but has coached the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the 99AAA team as well as the Little Avalanche program. Jeff played high school hockey locally at Trinity before he went on to play at Plymouth State.

 


 

Avalanche Tryouts

February 29th, 2008 - Tryouts for the Avalanche 2008 Split Season Midget program as well as the Girls U12 and U14 programs will be held the week of March 10th.  Tryouts for Avalanche 2008 / 2009 season for Mite through Bantam levels will be held the week of March 17th.

10 Program Highlights for 2008 / 2009

1. AAA teams will play in the MBHL and the GSL
2. AA teams will play in the GSL and some in the Seacoast League while others will go independent. Teams that play GSL and independent will have one invitational tournament paid for by Avalanche!
3. Mite and 99AA team will get two one hour split practices a week.
4. Squirt Minor AAA to Bantam 94AA will get two practices a week, one will be 1 hour split, the second will be 50 minute full sheet and 20 minutes split ice.

5. Mite through Bantam will get 16 Friday night skills sessions taught by Casey Kesselring.

6. U12 and U14 teams will get two practices a week and 16 Friday night skills sessions - All at the Ice Den!

7. Every team will get 4 hours of spring and summer ice included in tuition!

8. Mites through Bantams as well as the U12 and U14 teams will get a week long day camp run by Casey Kesselring. 

9. Every player from Mite to Bantam and the 2 Girls teams will get Avalanche Shells and Avalanche Bags included in Tuition!

10. Next season the Avalanche will unveil a new home jersey for Mites through bantams!
