Little Av's Program
July
18th, 2008
-
The Little Avalanche program is designed as a “Learn to Play Hockey”,
“Intro Mites” program. Little Av’s is a program that’s designed to help
young players prepare to enter a Mite league. The program is for young
players that have completed a “learn to skate” program and can now
continue on with their skating development while learning the skills
necessary to play hockey.
The program will begin in early September and will
continue through early March. 4 teams of 11 skaters each will be
established having their own head coach. The teams will have one
practice on Saturday mornings from 8:40 to 9:40am and then play half ice
games on Sunday morning from 8:10 to 9:10 am. The cost of the program
will be $575, total due at time of registration.
The director of hockey programming for the Ice Den,
Casey Kesselring, will operate the program. The Director, based on each
individual player’s ability, will have the option of moving players
between the Mini Avalanche program and the Little Avalanche program.
Players
should have completed at least two sessions of Mini Av’s, or another
skating program. Players entering Little Av’s should be able to skate up
and down the ice at a reasonable pace and be able to perform a two skate
hockey stop in at least one direction.
Register now to guarantee a spot in this
exciting program!

Welcome to Avalanche Country
HISTORY: The NH
Avalanche was founded in March 2001 to provide a hockey development program with
important advantages compared to traditional travel hockey organizations. The
Avalanche is a non-profit corporation sharing common control with the Ice Den
Arena in Hooksett, NH. As a result, the Avalanche enjoys access to the most
desirable, prime-time hours at one of the cleanest, brightest, and most
attractively laid out hockey facilities in New England. Our philosophy is
simple: to provide excellent instruction and development to those youngsters
truly interested in making the commitment to travel hockey, and to improvement.
At the same time, we try to instill respect for teammates, opponents, and
officials the virtue of old-fashioned sportsmanship that includes graciousness
in both victory or defeat. We also ask parents to reinforce these lessons with
their own behavior at the rink! Just as importantly, we strive to provide a
positive and friendly environment so that hockey remains fun, and kids develop a
love for the game, as well as athletic skill. Lastly, we try to teach children
one of hockey’s greatest lessons that hard work produces rewards.
The Avalanche are happy to
announce that we are full members of the Boston Hockey League (www.mbhl.com)
for the 2007 / 2008 season. This makes the
Avalanche the only NH
based organization to offer true AAA competition plus access to the Granite
State League, which is the gateway to the State, Regional and National USA
hockey tournaments.
Some exciting facts about
the Metro League.
1.
The Metro plays college rules which means tag up off-sides
2. The
Metro league plays checking starting at the Mite Level
3. The
Metro is the oldest AAA league in New England.
All Avalanche A
teams at each birth year participate in the MBHL as well as the Granite
State League. All Mix and B teams play in GSL and Seacoast as in the
past.
